FAQs

What is iShade?
iShade is the accounting profession online. A first of its kind resource, iShade provides users with the ability to interact, collaborate, network, learn, share, research, shop and much, much more - all with other professionals working in the accounting industry.

Why should I join iShade?
Unlike socially oriented networking sites, iShade is all business. Focusing exclusively on your professional side, iShade allows you to build and manage your online identity as a CPA or Chartered Accountant. iShade is different from other business oriented sites in that it has been built specifically for the accounting industry by people who understand and work in the profession every day.

How do I get started?
Getting started is as simple as creating your free online profile. Once your profile has been created you can start building your professional network, join and create user groups, read leading blogs, compile content from across the web, shop the iShade marketplace, participate in the Weekly Pulse™ poll, build a private intranet for your firm and connect with technical resources around the globe through our affiliation with 2020 International.

How long does signup take?
Setting up your individual profile and your firm's profile can take less than 90 seconds, however most users will revisit their individual and firm profile once it has been created to round it out with additional information and more fully create their online professional identity.

What do you mean by a "user group?"
Groups can be created by any iShade user and can be setup to be either public or private. The creator of a group always serves as the group's initial moderator, and can subsequently designate additional group moderators as they see fit. Public groups are those which can be joined by any iShade user simply by requesting admission to the group. Conversely, private groups have controlled access where members can only be admitted with permission from one of the group's moderators. Within a user created group members can make announcements, initiate and participate in discussion threads, maintain a group calendar, and upload resources to be shared among the group's members.

Can you give me an example of how I might use a group?
The possibilities are endless! Examples of current groups include:

  • 2011 Recruits - A private group maintained by a firm that wants to create an online community for undergraduate students that have visited their booth during the firm's participation in a number of recruiting fairs
  • Firm Alumni - A private group maintained by a firm that wants to keep in contact with employees that previously worked at the firm
  • Management Summit 2011 - A private group for people who have registered for the Management Summit conference
